Elgon Trek
Elgon Trek is a local Ugandan adventure company specialized in organising hiking experiences inside and outside Mount Elgon National Park.
We are passionate in giving you the most enjoyable experience and excitement which includes hiking Sipi Falls, abseiling/rappelling, coffee tours, forest nature walks, Sebei cultural tours and bird watching.
As natives living on the foothills of Mount Elgon, we have a deep and meaningful relationship with Mount Elgon’s conservation partners and the taste of the mountain, especially on its fun, challenges and experiences. It’s our great pleasure sharing this beautiful mountain adventure with you.
We have extensively trekked this mountain and now we share our experience with you on your adventure. Trekking Mount Elgon is indeed the experience of a lifetime that you will never forget.
Introducing Juma Chebet
My name is Juma Chebet, the man behind Elgon Trek Company.I am a son of the soil, living at the foothill of this beautiful mountain and I have 14 years of tour guiding experience. I felt challenged as to why this hidden treasure was less visited and known despite it being the most gorgeous mountain and a hiker’s paradise.
In my journey of outdoor adventure and discovering ‘off the beaten track’ spots on Elgon Mountain, I have developed much love for it and a strong passion in showcasing what my area of operation has and sharing it with you.
My purpose of creating this trekking company, is to provide you with the ultimate Mount Elgon outdoor experience, to assist you with reaching your goals and to be your resource for all things related to outdoor adventure in the Elgon region. In addition to this, I aspire to meet and learn from the adventuring community all over the world. This is because the world is ours to explore.
I am working with a passionate team who are very knowledgeable, committed in ensuring your ambitions and expectations are achieved. As a team, we love what we do and are always ready to take your adventure further.

Matthijs Coninx 2022-08-18 We ascended Mt. Elgon starting on the 12th of August 2022 as a group of 8 Belgian students. We organised the trip a week upfront with the tour guide, Juma. Juma was always very open, honest and flexible about the costs, itenary and practical arrangements. Juma and team (porters, cook and guides) took amazing care of us and supplied us with fresh meals, coffee, tea, water and snacks every day. Together, Juma’s team helped us make the 4-day trek an interesting and unforgettable experience during which we felt safe at all times.
Thanks very much to Juma and his team! We would certainly reccommend ElgonTrek to anybody looking for a well-organised and complete trek on Mt. Elgon! We hope to meet again soon!

Margaux Zadoroznyj 2022-06-18 Unforgetable trip in Mount Elgon, 4 days in nature, climbing up to the top Wagagai. Tiring but so delighting ! All was well organised by Yuma, we didn't have to think about anything but walking, watching and enjoying ! Local guides were really nice, and could talk to us about fauna, flora ans history, porters and Robert the cook took really good care of us ! The meals were tasty and hearty. Thank you all, we really recommand Elgon trek !!!
